The Hopkins Family

For as long as I can remember, there has been an historical marker on Tonset Road for the Giles Hopkins Homestead. About 250 years after Giles, Thomas Downs moved his house and family to what used to be the Hopkins homestead on Tonset Road. Thomas's son John married Giles's great-great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter, Helen Hopkins. John and Helen also built a house on Tonset Road on a piece of land that used to be part of that homestead. Many of my earliest memories as a child were of this house. Is it any wonder that I have trouble thinking of the families of Downs and Hopkins as two separate subjects?

Here you will find information on my Grandmother Helen's family and lineage.
